In instances where there is a "Split" signing of notarized documents, normally the second notary receiving the documents will be required to attach loose notarial certificates. Review the documents and if there is an acknowledgment attached for the first signer, then the second will follow suit. If there is a jurat attached, then a loose jurat will be attached. Be sure to include the word(s) ONLY or AND NO OTHER after the signer's name to prevent any tampering or suggestion that you notarized a signature of a person not present. Remember, a notary cannot make the decision or advise a signer which notarial certificate required for a document. |
