Call the Client and notify them of the situation IMMEDIATELY. If you cannot get in contact with the client or someone to advise you, then proceed with the signing. Request a copy of the Death Certificate to include with the package going back. Where the deceased person's signature is required, write DECEASED and Date of Death. The loan may or may not process but this is the safest approach. Be sure to get in touch with the client as soon as possible and explain the situation. Make a memo to the file and include in the loan package going back, fax a copy to the client, annotate it in your journal and keep it on file with the confirmation sheet. |
