Any time a "pen" change is made on any of the documents, you must have the borrower initial the "ink".

This is a safety measure that protects everyone (the lender, the borrower, and the notary). When the borrower initials the "pen" change, this indicates that the borrower is aware of the change/addition in the document. If the loan is ever taken into court, then the initials indicate that all parties were aware of the change/addition.
